The Auto Withdrawals feature allows freelancers to automatically transfer funds from their goLance balance to a withdrawal method.
You can choose to withdraw funds:
- Weekly, on a day and time you select
- On payment release, so each eligible payment triggers its own withdrawal
goLance may also suggest a withdrawal frequency based on how often you typically receive payments, but you can choose a different option before activating your policy.
How Do I Access Auto Withdrawals?
- Sign in to your goLance freelancer account.
- Select Payments from the left-side menu.
- Select Withdrawal Methods.
- Under Auto Withdrawals, select Set Up Auto Withdrawals.
The setup process contains four steps.
How Does goLance Recommend an Auto Withdrawal Setup?
The first step asks how often you typically receive payments.
Choose:
- Once a Week or Less
- Multiple Times a Week
Your answer helps goLance suggest a withdrawal frequency.
What Happens if I Select “Once a Week or Less”?
If you typically receive one payment per week or less, goLance suggests On Payment Release.
With this option, each eligible payment can trigger its own withdrawal as soon as it is released.
You can still choose Weekly in the next step if you prefer a scheduled withdrawal instead.
What Happens if I Select “Multiple Times a Week”?
You will be asked whether multiple payments can arrive on the same day.
Yes, Sometimes Several Arrive Together
goLance recommends Weekly.
Grouping several payments into one withdrawal can help reduce the number of separate withdrawal fees.
No, They Arrive on Different Days
Both options are presented:
- Weekly for a predictable withdrawal schedule
- On Payment Release for faster access to each eligible payment
Select Continue after reviewing the recommendation.
What Withdrawal Frequencies Can I Choose?
In Step 2, choose between:
- Weekly
- On Payment Release
How Do Weekly Auto Withdrawals Work?
With Weekly withdrawals, eligible payments are grouped together and withdrawn once per week.
Choose your:
- Day
- Time
- Time Zone
You can use View Your Transaction History before choosing a time to review when your payments typically arrive.
Payments released before your selected weekly cutoff are included in that withdrawal.
Payments released after the cutoff remain in your goLance balance and are included in the next scheduled withdrawal.
You can still make a manual withdrawal even while a weekly auto withdrawal policy is active.
How Does “On Payment Release” Work?
With On Payment Release, each eligible payment triggers its own withdrawal when that payment is released.
Because each payment is processed as a separate withdrawal, a separate withdrawal fee may apply to each transaction.
After choosing your preferred frequency, select Continue.
How Do I Choose Where the Money Is Sent?
In Step 3, select your Withdrawal Destination.
Choose the withdrawal method where you want the funds sent, then select how much should be withdrawn.
Can I Withdraw a Percentage of Each Payment?
Yes.
You can select:
- 25%
- 50%
- 75%
- 100%
- Custom
If you select Custom, enter the percentage of each eligible payment you want to withdraw.
Percentage-based auto withdrawals have a $50 minimum withdrawal.
If the eligible payment is below $50 when the withdrawal is triggered, the withdrawal is skipped and the funds remain available for a later attempt.
Can I Withdraw an Exact Amount Instead?
Yes.
Select Exact Amount and enter the amount you want withdrawn.
If the available payment is greater than the amount you selected:
- The requested amount is withdrawn
- The remaining funds stay in your goLance balance
If the available payment is less than the requested amount when the withdrawal is triggered:
- The withdrawal is skipped
- You will receive a notification
Select Continue once the destination and amount are configured.
How Do I Activate My Auto Withdrawal Policy?
The final step displays a summary of your policy.
Review:
- Withdrawal schedule
- Withdrawal destination
- Withdrawal percentage or exact amount
Withdrawal requests may occasionally be selected for additional review, which can make processing take longer than usual.
If everything is correct, select Activate Policy.
You will return to the Withdrawal Methods page, where the Auto Withdrawals section will show as Active.
What Information Can I See After Auto Withdrawals Are Activated?
The active Auto Withdrawals section can display information such as:
- Schedule
- Withdrawal destination
- Withdrawal amount or percentage
- Next withdrawal
This allows you to confirm how your current policy is configured.
Can I Review My Auto Withdrawal History?
Yes.
When a policy is active, select History from the Auto Withdrawals section to review previous auto withdrawal activity.
If no policy is currently active, you may also see a View Previous Policies option for past configurations.
Can I Turn Off Auto Withdrawals?
Yes. You can stop an active auto withdrawal policy at any time.
- Go to Payments → Withdrawal Methods.
- Locate the active Auto Withdrawals section.
- Select Remove.
- A Turn Off Scheduled Withdrawals confirmation window will appear.
- Select Turn Off.
Scheduled withdrawals stop immediately.
What Happens to My Balance if I Turn Off Auto Withdrawals?
Turning off the policy does not remove funds from your goLance balance.
Your:
- Existing balance remains available
- Withdrawal method remains saved
- Scheduled auto withdrawals stop
The Auto Withdrawals section returns to its original state, and you can select Set Up Auto Withdrawals whenever you want to create a new policy.
Can I Set Up Auto Withdrawals Again Later?
Yes.
After turning off a policy, you can create a new one at any time by returning to:
Payments → Withdrawal Methods → Set Up Auto Withdrawals
You can then choose a new frequency, destination, and withdrawal amount.
