goLance has two main account types: Client accounts and Freelancer/Agency accounts.
Your account type determines which features are available to you. Because account types cannot be changed after registration, it is important to select the correct option when creating your account.
What Types of Accounts Are Available on goLance?
There are two account types:
- Client
- Freelancer/Agency
Each account type is designed for a different purpose and provides access to different features.
What Can I Do With a Client Account?
A Client account is designed for individuals and companies that want to hire and manage freelancers through goLance.
Depending on your account and permissions, you can:
- Search for and hire freelancers
- Post jobs
- Send offers
- Make payments to freelancers
- Create and manage a company profile
- Create and manage teams
- Review active and previous contracts
- Review freelancer Work Diaries
- Manage contract settings
- Approve PTO or time-off requests
- Manage other client and company-related activities
If you plan to hire freelancers through goLance, you will need a Client account.
What Can I Do With a Freelancer/Agency Account?
A Freelancer/Agency account is primarily designed for individuals who want to find work and get hired by clients.
As a freelancer, you can:
- Create a freelancer profile
- Apply to available jobs
- Receive offers from clients
- Be found by clients searching for freelancers
- View and manage active contracts
- Track your work and payments
- Build your professional profile and work history
Can My Freelancer Account Also Be Used as an Agency Account?
Yes.
A Freelancer/Agency account can also be used to create and manage an agency profile.
As an agency, you can:
- Create an agency profile
- Add freelancers under your agency
- Review freelancers associated with your agency
- Manage your agency and its members through your account
You do not need a separate freelancer account and agency account. These functions are available under the same Freelancer/Agency account type.
I Accidentally Created the Wrong Account Type. Can I Change It?
No. An existing account cannot be changed from one account type to another.
For example, you cannot:
- Change a Freelancer/Agency account into a Client account
- Change a Client account into a Freelancer/Agency account
If you accidentally created your account under the wrong type, you will need to delete the account created under the incorrect account type and create a new account using a different email address.
When registering the new account, make sure to select the account type you need.
Do I Need Separate Accounts if I Want to Be Both a Freelancer and a Client?
Yes.
If you need both a Freelancer/Agency account and a Client account, you must create two separate goLance accounts using two different email addresses.
For example:
- Email address #1 → Freelancer/Agency account
- Email address #2 → Client account
The same account cannot function as both account types.
Can I Manage My Freelancer and Client Profiles From the Same Account?
No.
Freelancer and Client profiles cannot be combined under the same account or email address.
Each account must have its own:
- Email address
- Login credentials
- Account type
If you need both types of accounts, you will manage them separately.
Can I Use My Freelancer Account to Hire Other Freelancers?
No.
A Freelancer/Agency account cannot be used to hire freelancers as a client.
If you need to hire someone through goLance, you will need to create a separate Client account.
A Freelancer/Agency account can create an agency profile and have other freelancers associated with that agency, but this is different from hiring freelancers through the platform as a client.
What Is the Difference Between Adding Freelancers to an Agency and Hiring Freelancers?
An agency profile allows you to organize and manage freelancers who are associated with your agency.
This does not convert your Freelancer/Agency account into a Client account or give you access to client hiring features.
If you want to post jobs, send offers, hire freelancers, and pay them as a client, you must use a separate Client account.
How Do I Switch Between My Freelancer and Client Accounts?
Because the accounts are separate, there is no profile-switching option within a single account.
To switch:
- Log out of your current goLance account.
- Sign in using the email address and credentials for your other account.
For example, if you are logged in to your Freelancer account and need to perform a client action, log out and sign in using your Client account credentials.
Can I Use the Same Email Address for Both Accounts?
No.
A Freelancer/Agency account and Client account must be registered using different email addresses.
If you already have an account associated with an email address, use another email address when creating the second account type.
